Books to Movies

Last week I did a post about movies I was excited to see. This Friday I decided to share with you the ones I am anticipating that are based on books.

Number One: The Host

Now, I didn't actually read this book because, and don't hate me, I can't stand the Twilight series. I'll admit I was afraid to even touch this one after how horrible Twilight ruined Meyers writing for me. I have heard that the writing in the Host is better, but I think I'd just rather see the movie. I love Sci/Fi so I can't not check this out. The concept seems very interesting.

2: Beautiful Creatures:

I know this one came out back in February, but I never got the chance to see it. I loved the books and the writing. So I have to see this. Sadly I will have to wait till it is out on DVD. These books reminded me of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches, except a teen version.

3. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

I just started reading this series. I'm on book one and already loving it. I'…

Get Creative!

What do you do when you're in a rut?

I just got a new kitten and made him his own blog (at his insistence): In Loki's Words.
Partly because I am a crazy cat lady and partly because I need to try and do something all the time for writing. It's fun, simple, and he's a kitten so it doesn't have to be perfect.

I think what I am experiencing is final book syndrome. Working on this last Nether book, while fun, is hard and sad at the same time. I don't want to say goodbye to these characters, but the story must come to an end. I ended up taking last week off (unintentionally) due to being on new medication (it's safe for me and baby) but I was having some side effect issues. The doctor advised all the things I was experiencing were normal and after a few days they should subside.  They finally did but it literally took all week. And today I haven't been able to get anything done because I have been acclimating our new Bengal kitten into our home. I really feel…

Anything Goes Friday

Today I wanted to share with you some things I am super excited about. Mainly, movies and TV shows. The number one show I am eagerly anticipating is:

Game of Thrones (Season 3) March 31, 2013
I am literally on pins and needles of excitement waiting for this show to start up again. HBO is doing a great job with it so far and having to wait almost a year for each new season is pure agony! I am actually still reading all of the novels and it really makes me want to try my  hand at a fantasy one day.
Vikings (Season 1) Showing Now

Hubs and I have recently started watching this new series on the History channel. I'm really liking it. For the History channel it is done very well and it's been holding me over until Game of Thrones starts up again. Learning about the vikings and how they discovered the lands to the west of their home has been very interesting. Good series! I highly recommend it.
Olympus Has Fallen (March 22, 2013)
1. Morgan Freeman 2. Gerard Butler

WIP Wednesday + Big News

Book: Nether Book 3.
Current Word Count: 23,438
Draft: 1

Did you see that up there? That word count jumped up 12k words from last week! I set a goal of writing 12k last week and I actually managed to make it happen. Sadly, this week my muse isn't playing very nice. I have not written in three days. The words just will not come and I refuse to force them. I have, however, been outlining future chapters which will make the writing part much easier once my muse stops being stubborn. It never fails. This week I set a goal of 15k words and I will be lucky to break 6k. Sigh...

If I stop setting goals or keep them secret from my muse maybe I'll get more done each day.

Now on to the music driving what little inspiration I have this week:

Fever Ray - If I Had A Heart
Rihanna - Stay
Now for some big news. I announced on Facebook today that my husband and I are expecting our first child together. =) I am five months along and we just found out we're having a little girl. Now all tho…

Rut

Ever hit that crappy writing rut? It's like I want to write, but don't at the same time. Why muse, why??

And I didn't post  yesterday because I am fail. I do apologize. I was under the weather AGAIN (stupid lingering zombie plague).

Tell me, do you  have this rut or am I like the only writer on this planet that suffers from this?

On the bright side, Kate Middleton is FINALLY starting to look pregnant. I have been envious of her thinness since she popped onto the map back in the early 2000's. So when I heard she was preggers I was like YES - FINALLY! But no, she still looks skinny and gorgeous even with her tiny royal bump.

When You're Not Writing...

What do you do when you aren't writing? Lately, I've been really bored. I haven't  been in the mood to do much. I write during the day and at night I normally read or play video games. For some reason I haven't wanted to read anything this last week and video games all just seem dull.

So, I am asking you. What do you do in your spare time? Are there any good TV shows/series that I can stream on Netflix that you all can suggest?

I've debated writing more at night but I've found that if I write more than 4k words a day, the next day I just feel creatively burned out and accomplish nothing. I have a good system going and I am averaging 12-15k words a week. I just can't seem to un-bore myself at night.

Also - you might have noticed all of my previous blog posts are gone. Simple explanation for that. I had over five hundred posts and wanted to take down all of my pictures because too many people are too sue happy these days. Well, even though I've been bore…

WIP Wednesday

Book: Nether Book 3.
Current Word Count: 11,424
Draft: 1

I've managed to get up to 11k words with the WIP. I'm happy about that since I have had a lot going on. I am totally struggling this week with the muse and with having a cold. But, I wouldn't be writing about Ava if I wasn't struggling. It's no surprise her "muse" is being stubborn. Here's my inspiration this week:

It has been a lot of fun coming back to these characters and seeing how much they've grown up over the course of these three books. I mean, when I started the first book Christa was just a toddler.
For music, I've been revisiting some older tunes I've probably posted on this blog before. I'm rehashing old emotions between some characters and they have certain songs that go with them.
You're Not Sorry Remix - Taylor Swift

Cold Play - Gravity (This is literally Ava and Devon's love theme song)
Joan Armatrading - Weakness In Me
