Books to Movies

Last week I did a post about movies I was excited to see. This Friday I decided to share with you the ones I am anticipating that are based on books.

Number One: The Host

Now, I didn't actually read this book because, and don't hate me, I can't stand the Twilight series. I'll admit I was afraid to even touch this one after how horrible Twilight ruined Meyers writing for me. I have heard that the writing in the Host is better, but I think I'd just rather see the movie. I love Sci/Fi so I can't not check this out. The concept seems very interesting.

2: Beautiful Creatures:

I know this one came out back in February, but I never got the chance to see it. I loved the books and the writing. So I have to see this. Sadly I will have to wait till it is out on DVD. These books reminded me of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches, except a teen version.

3. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

I just started reading this series. I'm on book one and already loving it. I'm pretty used to movies not living up to the books, but I'm still seeing it. I mean Jonathan Rhyse Meyers is one of my favorite actors (Tudors - Hellllooooo). And I also really love Jamie Campbell Bower (that's one hot Jayce)!

4. Catching Fire

Enough said.

5. World War Z

Dear Brad Pitt, do not mess this up for me! Sorry guys, I haven't been a Brad Pitt fan in a very long time. I will be seeing this though.

I will also need to buy this shirt finally and wear it to all of them!

Have a great weekend everyone.

  1. Brilliant post! I'm really looking forward to seeing the first two and World War Z, though looking at the trailer, that couldn't be further from the original book!

  2. I read The Host. I didn't like it, but I didn't like the Twilight series either, so I didn't really expect to like it. I haven't decided if I'll bother with the movie yet.

But I will definitely be in line for Catching Fire.

#Writemotivation Week 1 Update

It is that time again! I missed March =(, but I am back with a vengeance for May! Here are my goals for this month:

Wrapping Up Write Motivation

Write Motivation goals:
1. Line by line edit third Nether Book.(Finished). 2. Get third Nether Book sent off to editor. (Finished). 3. Write another 20k on NA sci/fi  (not happening this month) 4. Blog at least twice a week. (I did my best). 5. Comment on more blogs. (FAIL)!
All in all I feel accomplished. I am super fail at commenting on blogs. However, I want all of you to know I do read them. It is part of my daily routine (usually while eating breakfast). So just know you've officially been stalked and I love you!
My biggest goal was to get the third Nether book off to the editor and ready for publishing in late June or early July. I succeeded in that and I'm very happy about it! What's up next? I won't lie. I have no hard deadlines until 2014. I am taking the rest of the year off to just write casually before and after my baby girl is born. When I have time, feel inspired, or need to stay sane. It's a weird feeling not having a pressing deadline. The sense of freedo…

Should I Get An Exotic Cat Breed?

He's gorgeous, isn't he? Loki is my 4.5 year old Bengal and I can tell you he is a lot of work, but I knew that going in before I got him. I did endless hours of research on the breed. Talked with multiple breeders that were familiar with their genetic make up and behaviors. I knew he would require a lot and even though I prepared myself, I was still blown away by how much of commitment these breeds are.

All exotic cat breeds require a lot of time and tons of training for both human and cat. Although, even with the training your exotic cat may still not listen or act out. Remember, these cats are breed down the line starting with their exotic father. This means they do still have wild tendencies depending on the filial generation they fall under. Filial generations for most exotic cat breeds are as follows:

F1 - 1st Generation  Exotic cat + Domestic Mother
F2 - 2nd Generation Domestic Father + F1 Mother
F3 - 3rd Generation Domestic Father +  F2 Mother
F4 - 4th Generation  Dom…
