Books to Movies

Last week I did a post about movies I was excited to see. This Friday I decided to share with you the ones I am anticipating that are based on books.

Number One: The Host

Now, I didn't actually read this book because, and don't hate me, I can't stand the Twilight series. I'll admit I was afraid to even touch this one after how horrible Twilight ruined Meyers writing for me. I have heard that the writing in the Host is better, but I think I'd just rather see the movie. I love Sci/Fi so I can't not check this out. The concept seems very interesting.

2: Beautiful Creatures:

I know this one came out back in February, but I never got the chance to see it. I loved the books and the writing. So I have to see this. Sadly I will have to wait till it is out on DVD. These books reminded me of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches, except a teen version.

3. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

I just started reading this series. I'm on book one and already loving it. I'm pretty used to movies not living up to the books, but I'm still seeing it. I mean Jonathan Rhyse Meyers is one of my favorite actors (Tudors - Hellllooooo). And I also really love Jamie Campbell Bower (that's one hot Jayce)!

4. Catching Fire

Enough said.

5. World War Z

Dear Brad Pitt, do not mess this up for me! Sorry guys, I haven't been a Brad Pitt fan in a very long time. I will be seeing this though.

I will also need to buy this shirt finally and wear it to all of them!

Have a great weekend everyone.

  1. Brilliant post! I'm really looking forward to seeing the first two and World War Z, though looking at the trailer, that couldn't be further from the original book!

  2. I read The Host. I didn't like it, but I didn't like the Twilight series either, so I didn't really expect to like it. I haven't decided if I'll bother with the movie yet.

But I will definitely be in line for Catching Fire.

Hiatus Over & Why I Was Gone So Long

I am going to sum up my hiatus with one adorable picture:

No, I wasn't just distracted by his cuteness. This little dude suffered a terrible spinal injury while being micro-chipped. No one was at fault. The accident was simply a freak accident. Tragic, but rare and totally a freak thing. Surgery was done and I can say he is recovering well. But, his healing process is a long one and I have never worked with or rehabilitated a partially paralyzed animal before. This is a first for me and I am learning so much.  My shelter is so lucky to have such an amazing and talented vet staff.

I also want to thank the human mom of Waverly McTinybeans for all her advice and taking the time to give it. I know she is a super busy lady and I appreciated every tip.

I have spoken to multiple vets, RVT's and watched every youtube video I could find to help give this guy the best physical therapy I am able. He starts acupuncture sessions next week and little by little he makes progress. His left si…

#Writemotivation Week 1 Update

It is that time again! I missed March =(, but I am back with a vengeance for May! Here are my goals for this month:

Nick Furry

I have been fostering these two adorable house panthers since they were two weeks old. At around four weeks of age I started to noticed something wrong with the little male's left eye.

I contacted my foster coordinator who had me bring him in so our in house vet could take a look at him. She was a bit baffled at what could be causing it so we tested him for various illnesses/cat diseases and they all came back negative. At four weeks old there isn't a lot we could do except wait and see what happened and how the eye developed. After another week I could tell he didn't seem to have vision in that eye and slowly the entire eye globe started to swell. Well, I woke up last Tuesday morning to this:
The vet had me bring him back in and it was apparent the eye would need to be removed. We did not know if it could be a tumor or glaucoma or what the heck the poor little dude had going on. The only issue was that he was tiny and only 1.5 lbs. Typically it isn't that great to do …
