Let's Get Real...

A week or so ago I asked around Twitter and Facebook what people liked to see on blogs. The responses were all different but none of them mentioned "writing blogs". I fear, my friends, the writing blog is a thing of the past. There are just so many out there and let's be honest most of them are boring and dull including mine. If you've been to writing conferences and read at least ten or more writing focused blogs you've seen it all. Am I right? I could be wrong, but I'd rather revive my blog versus watch it go up in flames and turn to nothing more than smoky burnt ash.  The ash that just annoys you when there is a bad fire and it gets all over your car and is a pain to clean off. Yep, that kind and yes, I just went there.

That's what this new blog will be out. I am going to go there. About what you ask? Simple, whatever I feel like. I remember reading from agents saying that to break into the writing world you need every social media outlet possible and you really needed to have a blog. Being the naive newbie author I did exactly as was suggested.  In the beginning it was awesome. Now, I don't even want to look at my blog and I've had to cut back on the social media. I might be a stay at home writer, but even I only have so much time in the day to sit on social networking sites. I can keep up with two, not let's say ten.

What do I like? Twitter! What am I starting to hate? Facebook, but that is a whole different blog post.

So I am just going to be real. I'm going to tell you about books, cats, TV Shows, Movies, and being a new mum. Anything I darn well please and some of it might not be pretty. Corrupt politicians, I'm looking at you! If anything, I hope it will at least be more interesting that what I have been blogging about (or haven't as of late) and at least I will enjoy doing it.

I am told this is so extremely taboo in the "writing world." Well you know what? I'm over following all the darn rules. Life is life people. We only have one and let's enjoy it the way we want. I love writing. It's my passion. I also enjoy blogging. What I don't enjoy is watching my views decrease and knowing people are sitting behind their computer screens yawning into a bored oblivion about some writing tips they're already familiar with.

And yes, I am about to give birth. Literally, any day now so I may or may not disappear for a week or so. However, while I wait for this child to come out of me (and she's taking her sweet time), I plan to get some posts up and scheduled so they auto post! It can't be that hard right? No, it isn't. I just have to not be lazy about it. See, I am being real in admitting I have been a huge slacker lately. So, I say to myself. Get real Bonnie and get posting in advance!

Touché self…touché!

P.S. If there is something you want me to blog about, please suggest it in the comments. I'd love to give my two cents on any topic =)

  1. Congrats on the refocus, it sounds like a fantastic idea! I've changed over myself from chatting about writing to reviewing books.

  2. This is exactly what I'm planning on doing. I feel like my blog has gone stale and I want to post about thing that are more fun to me.
Hope that child is here soon!

  3. This must be "I'm unhappy with my blog" month or something, lol. Because I'm reconsidering an entire revamp as well. Mine will still have a major focus on writing, but I'm going to focus less on the how-to, and more on what I *am* writing.

Birthday Bliss

I turned thirty seven this past weekend (cringe), but I had a blast doing it!

My husband and daughter made me cards (I prefer these versus bought cards). I love that they take the time to make a card each year, it makes me feel extra special. Although, this year kiddo's car was a "flat card", her words. She didn't want to fold the artwork. I totally get you, mini me.

Saturday I had a kid free day with a friend and we spent hours laughing and thrift shopping. I found some great treasures and even a pair of bright flowery running shorts. I will take a picture of said shorts as they embarrassed my friend and she vowed NOT to be seen running with me at our next race if I wore them. I took that as a compliment and a challenge. =P Later that night hubby and kiddo took me to dinner at my favorite Thai restaurant (they aren't open on Sundays).

Sunday I finally checked out one of those bar/painting shops. Five girlfriends and I drank, laughed, painted and had a great tim…

Help, My Cat is Pooping Outside the Litter Box!

This is Princess Leia. Lately, little miss Leia has had a bit of an issue. She's been pooping outside of the litter boxes. See? Even a cat behaviorist can have cats with issues. Luckily, Leia's problem was quickly and easily diagnosed. My Bengal, Loki, had been bullying her away from the litter boxes. We set up a nice little box for her in a quiet area of the house and she hasn't had any issues since. I really think she is enjoying the fact she gets her own powder room. But, there can be many reasons a kitty starts this type of behavior so I am going to go over the most common ones below.

Here are some of the basic reasons:

1. A recent litter brand change.
Cats are huge creatures of habit and often finicky when it comes to their poop dirt. If you recently changed their litter try going back to the old stuff.   2. The litter isn't deep enough.
Some cats love a lot of litter and are big diggers. If they don't have enough litter (an amount to their liking, not yours) k…

Cats & Vaccines

This gorgeous boy had to get some vaccines yesterday. I keep all of my furbabies up to date with their vaccinations and you should too. My kitties rarely ever go outside, but I still get them all their shots just in case. You never know. I once had one of my indoor only kitties get let out by an old roommate. The cat was missing for three long weeks. I was in agony not knowing where my baby was or what could be happening to him. Lucky for me, he showed back up but not without some very serious injuries. I never vaccinated him for outdoor stuff because, he was only indoor. Well, many years later I lost him to Feline Leukemia. The only time he could have contracted it was during the time he was lost. I was devastated. He could have lived a much longer life and I learned a very hard and valuable lesson.

That being said, Loki is normally a very active and spazy cat. Call it a Bengal thing. However, after three vaccines yesterday I could tell this morning he was feeling a bit blah and ten…
