Let's Get Real...

A week or so ago I asked around Twitter and Facebook what people liked to see on blogs. The responses were all different but none of them mentioned "writing blogs". I fear, my friends, the writing blog is a thing of the past. There are just so many out there and let's be honest most of them are boring and dull including mine. If you've been to writing conferences and read at least ten or more writing focused blogs you've seen it all. Am I right? I could be wrong, but I'd rather revive my blog versus watch it go up in flames and turn to nothing more than smoky burnt ash.  The ash that just annoys you when there is a bad fire and it gets all over your car and is a pain to clean off. Yep, that kind and yes, I just went there.

That's what this new blog will be out. I am going to go there. About what you ask? Simple, whatever I feel like. I remember reading from agents saying that to break into the writing world you need every social media outlet possible and you really needed to have a blog. Being the naive newbie author I did exactly as was suggested.  In the beginning it was awesome. Now, I don't even want to look at my blog and I've had to cut back on the social media. I might be a stay at home writer, but even I only have so much time in the day to sit on social networking sites. I can keep up with two, not let's say ten.

What do I like? Twitter! What am I starting to hate? Facebook, but that is a whole different blog post.

So I am just going to be real. I'm going to tell you about books, cats, TV Shows, Movies, and being a new mum. Anything I darn well please and some of it might not be pretty. Corrupt politicians, I'm looking at you! If anything, I hope it will at least be more interesting that what I have been blogging about (or haven't as of late) and at least I will enjoy doing it.

I am told this is so extremely taboo in the "writing world." Well you know what? I'm over following all the darn rules. Life is life people. We only have one and let's enjoy it the way we want. I love writing. It's my passion. I also enjoy blogging. What I don't enjoy is watching my views decrease and knowing people are sitting behind their computer screens yawning into a bored oblivion about some writing tips they're already familiar with.

And yes, I am about to give birth. Literally, any day now so I may or may not disappear for a week or so. However, while I wait for this child to come out of me (and she's taking her sweet time), I plan to get some posts up and scheduled so they auto post! It can't be that hard right? No, it isn't. I just have to not be lazy about it. See, I am being real in admitting I have been a huge slacker lately. So, I say to myself. Get real Bonnie and get posting in advance!

Touché self…touché!

P.S. If there is something you want me to blog about, please suggest it in the comments. I'd love to give my two cents on any topic =)

  1. Congrats on the refocus, it sounds like a fantastic idea! I've changed over myself from chatting about writing to reviewing books.

  2. This is exactly what I'm planning on doing. I feel like my blog has gone stale and I want to post about thing that are more fun to me.
Hope that child is here soon!

  3. This must be "I'm unhappy with my blog" month or something, lol. Because I'm reconsidering an entire revamp as well. Mine will still have a major focus on writing, but I'm going to focus less on the how-to, and more on what I *am* writing.

Hiatus Over & Why I Was Gone So Long

I am going to sum up my hiatus with one adorable picture:

No, I wasn't just distracted by his cuteness. This little dude suffered a terrible spinal injury while being micro-chipped. No one was at fault. The accident was simply a freak accident. Tragic, but rare and totally a freak thing. Surgery was done and I can say he is recovering well. But, his healing process is a long one and I have never worked with or rehabilitated a partially paralyzed animal before. This is a first for me and I am learning so much.  My shelter is so lucky to have such an amazing and talented vet staff.

I also want to thank the human mom of Waverly McTinybeans for all her advice and taking the time to give it. I know she is a super busy lady and I appreciated every tip.

I have spoken to multiple vets, RVT's and watched every youtube video I could find to help give this guy the best physical therapy I am able. He starts acupuncture sessions next week and little by little he makes progress. His left si…

#Writemotivation Week 1 Update

It is that time again! I missed March =(, but I am back with a vengeance for May! Here are my goals for this month:

Nick Furry

I have been fostering these two adorable house panthers since they were two weeks old. At around four weeks of age I started to noticed something wrong with the little male's left eye.

I contacted my foster coordinator who had me bring him in so our in house vet could take a look at him. She was a bit baffled at what could be causing it so we tested him for various illnesses/cat diseases and they all came back negative. At four weeks old there isn't a lot we could do except wait and see what happened and how the eye developed. After another week I could tell he didn't seem to have vision in that eye and slowly the entire eye globe started to swell. Well, I woke up last Tuesday morning to this:
The vet had me bring him back in and it was apparent the eye would need to be removed. We did not know if it could be a tumor or glaucoma or what the heck the poor little dude had going on. The only issue was that he was tiny and only 1.5 lbs. Typically it isn't that great to do …
