Fear of Flying

I'm leaving on a jet plane...

NOT!

I am absolutely terrified of flying. Trust me, I know the statistics. I've been to therapy for it. I know it is by far the safest way to actually travel.

I don't care.

Getting me on a plane requires a dang miracle or a lot of drugs to keep me calm and knocked out. This is bad on so many levels and mainly because all my family live in different states. We have the baby now and everyone wants us to come visit. I hate saying no, but I do offer to split their plane tickets with them to come out to sunny California. They have obligations and reasons why they can't always come my way. I get it, I do. It makes me feel guilty and one day I need to just suck it up and deal.

And then things like this happen:

I just can't. Two  hundred and thirty nine people on board and nobody knows what happened to this plane. It is an eerie reminder of the Air France flight back in 2009. Obviously, something catastrophic took place and the hope of finding the plane or any survivors is bleak. Do you know what breaks my heart even more? There were two infants on board.

As I watch my little girl sleep I can't even begin to imagine the horror the families of these passengers and crew are going through. It brings tears to my eyes.

I hope all the souls of Flight 370 are at peace and may their families find some comfort in knowing that the world is grieving with you.

  1. *hugs* Flying doesn't really bother me, I just don't fly because we can't afford it. But everyone has their phobias - my thing is doctor's offices. It's not been diagnosed as an actual phobia, but they about give me panic attacks, and my blood pressure skyrockets at them, so it might as well be. At least flying is an easier one to explain.

  4. While I don't enjoy flying, I can do it. I'm boarding a plane next week, as a matter of fact, and I hate it when things like the Malaysian flight happen right before.

My heart breaks for those families affected by this.

  6. I can't even begin to imagine what the family members of that Malaysia flight are going through. And your phobia is certainly understandable. Recent flight incidents aren't exactly helping -_-

Hiatus Over & Why I Was Gone So Long

I am going to sum up my hiatus with one adorable picture:

No, I wasn't just distracted by his cuteness. This little dude suffered a terrible spinal injury while being micro-chipped. No one was at fault. The accident was simply a freak accident. Tragic, but rare and totally a freak thing. Surgery was done and I can say he is recovering well. But, his healing process is a long one and I have never worked with or rehabilitated a partially paralyzed animal before. This is a first for me and I am learning so much.  My shelter is so lucky to have such an amazing and talented vet staff.

I also want to thank the human mom of Waverly McTinybeans for all her advice and taking the time to give it. I know she is a super busy lady and I appreciated every tip.

I have spoken to multiple vets, RVT's and watched every youtube video I could find to help give this guy the best physical therapy I am able. He starts acupuncture sessions next week and little by little he makes progress. His left si…

#Writemotivation Week 1 Update

It is that time again! I missed March =(, but I am back with a vengeance for May! Here are my goals for this month:

Wrapping Up Write Motivation

Write Motivation goals:
1. Line by line edit third Nether Book.(Finished). 2. Get third Nether Book sent off to editor. (Finished). 3. Write another 20k on NA sci/fi  (not happening this month) 4. Blog at least twice a week. (I did my best). 5. Comment on more blogs. (FAIL)!
All in all I feel accomplished. I am super fail at commenting on blogs. However, I want all of you to know I do read them. It is part of my daily routine (usually while eating breakfast). So just know you've officially been stalked and I love you!
My biggest goal was to get the third Nether book off to the editor and ready for publishing in late June or early July. I succeeded in that and I'm very happy about it! What's up next? I won't lie. I have no hard deadlines until 2014. I am taking the rest of the year off to just write casually before and after my baby girl is born. When I have time, feel inspired, or need to stay sane. It's a weird feeling not having a pressing deadline. The sense of freedo…
