Spider Queen

Today my kiddo got to debut her Halloween costume at dance class. She was super excited. I was nervous, proud, but nervous. Why? Because I make her costumes and she has a mind of her own. Mini Me has never followed the same "princess path" like all the other girls her age. (Don't get me wrong she loves princesses and we have plenty of Elsa dress up costumes). But, when it comes to Halloween she (especially this year) doesn't like all the frilly stuff.

We were walking up and down the aisle of a store that specialized in costumes and I asked her what she wanted to be for Halloween. Since she is older and has a voice of her own I wanted to see what she said. She looked around and said, this stuff is boring. I giggled with delight because we were in the Disney princess and My Little Pony area (all of which she loves when it comes to toys).

I walked her over to the boy section and her eyes lit up. She jumped from zombie to monster with glee. "Mommy these are so cool.…

Navigating the Internet and its Sea of Trolls

We have all read or watched something on the news about someone taking their own life because of bullying and even worse, cyber bullying. It is so sad, but this is the day and age we live in. Anyone from anywhere can hop on the Internet and be mean to whoever they like with very little to no consequence at all. Most of the time it is the latter, no consequence.

I watch a popular gaming streamer who suffers from depression. Said streamer has been open about their mental issues and has always seemed to have a handle on the situation of mental state. However, last night while said individual was broadcasting and interacting with "chat" someone told this person to go kill themselves. My heart sank.

You can't do that. You shouldn't say those words to anyone. It is heartless. Regardless of their mental state. I don't care if they have NO mental issues the very phrase is terribly rude and disgusting. Internet trolls don't care. They feed off getting reactions of peo…

The One Where I Annoy My Cat...

Every now and then I annoy my cat. Hey, don't judge. I don't see him waking you up at 3am knocking everything off your dresser and night stand. It's the little things in life...

He takes it all in stride though and I am sure I will pay for this dearly while trying to sleep later.

P.S. The faces he makes. He is so animated!

Run! Zombies!

Okay, so there weren't really zombies. But, I did run over the weekend and I did a pretty darn good job. This is my third year running this 5k (3.1 miles) and I have knocked my time down 11 minutes from last year. I am super stoked about that.  I ran it in 34 minutes.

THIRTY FOUR MINUTES!!
I. Can't. Even.
The simple fact that the first year I came in at 46 mins. The second year at 45 and this year at 34 mins just blew my mind. BLEW IT! I guess all the other races I have done this year have really helped me. In all I have completed three 5k's and four 10k's (6.2 miles).
I never thought my body was capable of such things. I never thought my mind was either, but I didn't give myself enough credit. It might have taken me two years to get to this point and trust me, I started out super slow.
I'm proud.
I'm proud because I didn't give up even though there were so many times I really wanted to.
There were so many times that finish line seemed too far away, …

Dust In The Wind

Some days you just need some musical inspiration. My character is standing on the edge. Do you think she jumps or does someone pull her to safety? I wrote the scene to this song.

Living with Cats - Introducing Loki and Leia

Oh yeah, I am going there and when I type there, I mean really there. I have two cats. Well, I had three but we recently lost our twelve year old Luna girl (RIP sweet angel). We have Loki (a three year old pure bred Bengal) and Leia (an adopted shelter two year old siamese mix).

Leia is a sweetheart and yes, she was named after Princess Leia from Star Wars (full blown nerds in this household). She is a bit timid and often afraid of her own shadow. We don't know why. We adopted her from the shelter when she was 8 weeks old and before that she was in foster care since she was 2 days old so all we can think of is it's just her temperament. She loves her people, but hides when she hears the gardeners, a knock on the door or herself fart. Seriously, she spooks easily.

Loki, he is a whole different ball game. Bengal cats are high maintenance, full of energy, and require attention pretty much twenty-four seven. We knew that before we bought him. Trust me ladies and gents, I did my ho…
