Beautiful Weekend with Family

My in-laws came up for a visit this weekend and we had a wonderful visit with them. My little girl just adores her Oma and Opa and I treasure the moments seeing her interacting with them. I miss my grandparents dearly, I am glad she gets to experience hers and has such a good relationship with them.

Saturday we took them to the Estrella Warbird Museum and the experience was amazing. Old planes, vintage cars (the also had a Ford and Chevy car show going on while we were there), and really neat military historic items. We all had a favorite area. Kiddo loved running around among all old planes. I favored the vintage cars and Nascar area (yep, I love me some Nascar). Hubs loved all the historical stuff. Oma and Opa loved the entire thing.

From the car show. I exclaimed to hubby that I had found my mid life crisis car should I ever have one...

Sunday we all ventured down to the beach to pick sea shells at kiddo's request. The day was a lot cooler than Saturday, but fun was still had. We had a picnic lunch and even though it was cold kiddo insisted on ice cream (totally my kid). Another fun day and a bucket full of sea shells.

I was totally imagining the pirate ship from The Goonies making an appearance from behind Morro Rock.
A great weekend! Did you do anything fun this weekend?

xoxo

Hiatus Over & Why I Was Gone So Long

I am going to sum up my hiatus with one adorable picture:

No, I wasn't just distracted by his cuteness. This little dude suffered a terrible spinal injury while being micro-chipped. No one was at fault. The accident was simply a freak accident. Tragic, but rare and totally a freak thing. Surgery was done and I can say he is recovering well. But, his healing process is a long one and I have never worked with or rehabilitated a partially paralyzed animal before. This is a first for me and I am learning so much.  My shelter is so lucky to have such an amazing and talented vet staff.

I also want to thank the human mom of Waverly McTinybeans for all her advice and taking the time to give it. I know she is a super busy lady and I appreciated every tip.

I have spoken to multiple vets, RVT's and watched every youtube video I could find to help give this guy the best physical therapy I am able. He starts acupuncture sessions next week and little by little he makes progress. His left si…

#Writemotivation Week 1 Update

It is that time again! I missed March =(, but I am back with a vengeance for May! Here are my goals for this month:

Nick Furry

I have been fostering these two adorable house panthers since they were two weeks old. At around four weeks of age I started to noticed something wrong with the little male's left eye.

I contacted my foster coordinator who had me bring him in so our in house vet could take a look at him. She was a bit baffled at what could be causing it so we tested him for various illnesses/cat diseases and they all came back negative. At four weeks old there isn't a lot we could do except wait and see what happened and how the eye developed. After another week I could tell he didn't seem to have vision in that eye and slowly the entire eye globe started to swell. Well, I woke up last Tuesday morning to this:
The vet had me bring him back in and it was apparent the eye would need to be removed. We did not know if it could be a tumor or glaucoma or what the heck the poor little dude had going on. The only issue was that he was tiny and only 1.5 lbs. Typically it isn't that great to do …
