Summer Vacation Part 1

So, I finally got on a plane again. I have a terrible fear of flying and I am glad to say that my flight out to Florida from California was incredibly smooth. So smooth that it makes flying a little less scary for me. YAY!

Here are a few pictures to sum up what we have been doing so far on our vacation:

A lot of swimming. I think she is part mermaid.

The Beach. I have really missed the beaches out here.

Showering my Mom's cat with affection he clearly wants.
Eating amazing home cooked southern food. Red beans and rice with collard greens, nom nom nom.

Finally eating good fried catfish again!
Indulging in adult beverages that taste like chocolate shakes.
Playing Glow Golf, kiddo's new favorite.
Sadly, remembering that Florida has huge wolf spiders. #notcoolfloridanotcool
All in all kiddo and I have been having a blast visiting with friends and family. My husband will be joining us next week and we are both super excited to see him. Sorry for the lack of posts, but now you know why. =P

There will be more pictures and another post in the near future.

XOXO

Hiatus Over & Why I Was Gone So Long

I am going to sum up my hiatus with one adorable picture:

No, I wasn't just distracted by his cuteness. This little dude suffered a terrible spinal injury while being micro-chipped. No one was at fault. The accident was simply a freak accident. Tragic, but rare and totally a freak thing. Surgery was done and I can say he is recovering well. But, his healing process is a long one and I have never worked with or rehabilitated a partially paralyzed animal before. This is a first for me and I am learning so much.  My shelter is so lucky to have such an amazing and talented vet staff.

I also want to thank the human mom of Waverly McTinybeans for all her advice and taking the time to give it. I know she is a super busy lady and I appreciated every tip.

I have spoken to multiple vets, RVT's and watched every youtube video I could find to help give this guy the best physical therapy I am able. He starts acupuncture sessions next week and little by little he makes progress. His left si…

#Writemotivation Week 1 Update

It is that time again! I missed March =(, but I am back with a vengeance for May! Here are my goals for this month:

Nick Furry

I have been fostering these two adorable house panthers since they were two weeks old. At around four weeks of age I started to noticed something wrong with the little male's left eye.

I contacted my foster coordinator who had me bring him in so our in house vet could take a look at him. She was a bit baffled at what could be causing it so we tested him for various illnesses/cat diseases and they all came back negative. At four weeks old there isn't a lot we could do except wait and see what happened and how the eye developed. After another week I could tell he didn't seem to have vision in that eye and slowly the entire eye globe started to swell. Well, I woke up last Tuesday morning to this:
The vet had me bring him back in and it was apparent the eye would need to be removed. We did not know if it could be a tumor or glaucoma or what the heck the poor little dude had going on. The only issue was that he was tiny and only 1.5 lbs. Typically it isn't that great to do …
